About
South Jersey Golf Schools History
The South Jersey Golf Schools started in 1980
with just one camp. In 1992, the SJGS moved
to Somerton Springs, South Jersey Golf
Campus, now called the Big Swing Golf Center.
By 1996, this facility was acclaimed as one of the
county’s top 88 driving ranges by the Golf Range
Association of America. Now after over a decade
later, the South Jersey Golf Schools are back!
Today, we offer a vast array of instructional programs
helping you enjoy the game more while improving
scores.
Our staff consists of the area’s finest instructors. This year
marks another exciting year for the SJGS Director, Bob
Cardea. He is thrilled to be back at the place his father,
Dr. Don Cardea helped to build nearly 30 years ago.
Coach Cardea is the 7-time NEAC Coach of the Year, leading the
Scarlet Raptors to nine NEAC Conference Championships, and NCAA Finals appearances. In 2019, Rutgers Camden Golf finished 16th in the Nation. Bob is also the Rutgers University at Camden’s 2-time Coach of the Year award winner. In addition, he has been the site director for numerous national organizations, competitions and programs including: Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic GCAA/NCAA All-American Selection
Committee, Chairman of the NEAC Conference Golf
Committee, LPGA Girls Golf Program, Re/Max Skill Challenge, and the Long Drivers of America (LDA) as seen on ESPN.
